Use letters, numbers, and special characters when changing your passwords. Use encrypted passwords that are difficult for others to figure out. Do not use the same password for all of your accounts. Use multi-factor authentication on websites and social media apps.

This allows them to install Trojans and worms to gain control of your computer. You should also hide your wireless network name with a new name.
Don’t Use Unsecured Networks
Avoid using unsecured networks at workplaces, restaurants, and other public places. Hackers can access your e-mails and other personal information. Take extra precautions when you travel to public areas like airports. If you need to use a public network, make sure to use a virtual private network (VPN) to encrypt all of your data.
Educate Your Clients on Data Security Threats
Educate your clients on rising threats like data breaches and e-mail wiring fraud. Make sure they don’t open e-mails from unknown sources, 
and to never use money transfers via links. Your clients should verify the source is legitimate over the phone. The best way to share this information with your clients is in writing since it keeps them aware of these threats. This is also proof that you gave this information in writing in the event they need to pursue legal action. Speak with an attorney to write a statement for this very purpose.
Vet IT Agencies
Before giving an IT agency access to your computers, devices, and personal information, make sure to do your research. Get referrals from past clients and other real estate agents. Use the internet to read reviews and testimonials. Look over your contract with the IT company you choose with an attorney to see who’s responsible in the event of a data breach or security attack.
Know the Laws
States have different laws when it comes to cyber-attacks and data security measures. Learn about state laws or seek advice from your attorney. You can also speak with an IT professional to make sure you’re in compliance with state laws.
